Seven Reasons For Playing SINS...
– Wed, Mar 17, 2021 at 03:12:47 PM
Hello backers,
Thank you all for the warm welcome we got on our post from yesterday. So many exciting comments and messages. We also got a bunch of questions, and if you're eager to post a question, don't hesitate. We're here to answer!
I'm Jacob, and today we're gonna take a break from all the reveals and dive into my seven sins, or my seven reasons for playing SINS, and why I think this game has something unique to offer...
1. Seven Inherent Strategies
Creating a strategy and balancing the seven sins, as each has a unique focus within the game. Too much gluttony, and you recycle your cards without getting new. Too much wrath, and you'll end up destroying your entire deck. Too much envy, and you'll be playing your opponent's strategy instead of your own. The game has so many ways to play different strategies that each game has a unique feel and a unique challenge.
2. Every Action Has Consequences
When to attack and when to defend?! This is a game that will have consequences regardless of attacking or defending. If you attack too hard, you'll suffer the next round. If you defend too much, you won't get the upper hand. You need to find the balance between your actions, making sure that you spend your cards, when you're ready to take the hit. Every action has consequences, and this game favors the aggressor.
3. Creating Card Combos
All cards can combo each other. The best way to get ahead is to align your strategy with the combos you'd like to achieve. Playing into your character's inherent strategy, getting your combos rolling from your starting hand will surely throw despair early against your opponents.
4. Push Your Luck
The game is balanced between the known and the unknown. You can do both or either. The more you go for the known, the longer your strategy might take, and the more you go for the unknown, the more unreliable it might be. Again, it's about balancing these two aspects.
5. Lore & Artwork
I love the SINS extended universe, all the stories and encounters — the mythos and the six realms. There's a lot to dive into, and together with the fantastic artwork, it truly unfolds in the Sourcebook. As we walk through the pages, we hear the story of four ancients in search of titans. Titans are giant celestial arachnids, spinning their webs as they string together the fabric of reality. SINS are born from spinnerets friction, unnatural, like cancer, spreading throughout reality; infesting realms, objects, and creatures. In these realms, we meet the Itinerants, common folks, and the high elders. The elders are split between two factions; the fanatic Eternals and the historical Phrenics. So many exciting layers to unravel in this unique dark-fantasy universe.
6. Adrenalin Spike
That moment, when you resolve your despair pile, crossing your fingers, hoping that your strategy has brought you a victory. Even with all your careful planning or reckless attacks, there is still a chance that you might have made a wrong move. And when the cards are revealed, one by one, everything slows down except for your heartbeat until you get your result. This is the moment I love. This is the moment where this game clicks for me, and I just wanna play another round. If I'm at the pub, this is the moment where I call for a refill.
7. Replayability
With 14 Character Packs that can be mixed to your heart's content, you can make countless strategies and experience the game over and over again, fresh every time. With asymmetric gameplay and co-op expansions, you'll get even more competitive or cooperative experiences. Even for the player who likes a certain strategy, a certain sin; playing against other characters will always have you rethink your moves, as the playing field has changed.
These are my seven love letters. I hope that these thoughts might help you see the same, but as always, I'm here if you have questions.
Sincerely Jacob and the rest of Luudos Studio.
🔥 New Battle Pack, Pledge Level, NSFW & Boosters... 🔥
about 5 years ago
– Wed, Mar 17, 2021 at 12:06:43 PM
Hello backers,
This is the day we've been waiting for over the past 14 days. At the start, it felt so far away, but now it's here.
New Battle Pack: Crown of Pride (free)
New Uncovered Packs (NSFW)
New Realm Booster Packs
New All-in Gluttony Pledge Level
Today we're revealing the much-awaited Battle Pack: Crown of Pride. This is a free Battle Pack added to Celestial Energies and replaces the Titans Expansion, which has been added to all boxes instead through the character packs.
After 14 days of free stuff, we are revealing five small paid add-ons; two new Uncovered Packs (NSFW) and three new Realm Booster Packs. All five add-ons are included in the new All-in Gluttony Pledge Level for the devoted SINS connoisseurs.
Crown of Pride
Battle Pack: Crown of Pride...
Crown of Pride is the seventh Battle Pack added to Celestial Energies for free and features a new mechanism. There is nothing more prideful than having cards that assert themself. With Crown of Pride, cards have a permanent keyword that allows them to stay in play until destroyed. These cards are not discarded during the discard step. Instead, they remain in play and have powerful static abilities that players can use throughout their actions.
Uncovered Promo Packs...
Due to popular requests in comments and messages, we're bringing back the Uncovered Promo Pack (NSFW) from season one. But, since we're at it, we're also introducing a season two Uncovered Promo Pack.
Both Uncovered Packs are available as individual add-ons (€19), and in the new All-in Gluttony Pledge Level. They feature not-safe-for-work and advanced replacement-cards for various card-sets across seasons one and two. These are not family-friendly in any way and offer more edgy artwork and gameplay for advanced players.
Uncovered Season One
Uncovered Season Two
Booster Packs...
To celebrate our different realms across our other games, we're adding three new Booster Packs as individual add-ons (€9), joining the Dark Fables Booster Pack.
The first is a visit to the six realm locations in the SINS Mythos, which are all described in detail in the SINS: Origin Sourcebook. The second is an homage to our upcoming title Cthulhu Island and features Lovecraftian horror locations from our beloved SINS artist Darry Petrucci. The third is a callback to our game Desolated (currently being printed) and features dystopian sci-fi locations.
All three Booster Packs feature a new mechanism, REALM. The new cards are placed at the end of the Realm-row and will inject locational themes and actions upon each round. The cards change every round, revealing a new setting, with requirements or boons for all players. They are essentially a shared event for the round and a way for players to travel between different Realms.

Desolated Realms Booster Pack
All-in Gluttony Pledge Level...
For the devoted connoisseurs of SINS, we've boxed all the new promo add-ons into an all-inclusive pledge level. This pledge level also includes the early bird Dark Fables Booster Pack and Art Sleeves for all cards. All early bird backers, who switch to this pledge level, will instead get a €9 discount, plus the Dark Fables Booster Pack.
During the next seven days, we'll continue to dive into details on gameplay and theme across the SINS mythos.
As always, thank you for your support. We truly appreciate it.
Until next time, have a wonderful day.
Sincerely Jacob.
Daily Reveal: Pride: "Isegard's Reach"
– Mon, Mar 15, 2021 at 03:32:56 PM
Hello backers,
First, let me thank you all, for all the shares you've posted across facebook and other channels. We've gained some great momentum over the weekend and we're SO CLOSE to the next stretch goal. Thank you all for being here and supporting our game and sharing our efforts. And thanks to all our new backers over the weekend. We truly appreciate your support!
I'm Jacob and today, is the day, before the big day. Pride is here!
Tomorrow we'll reveal his Battle Pack and its features, adding 100 unique cards to the game for free. We also have something else up our sleeve, a few small add-ons, do to popular demand, which we hope you'll all like. Stay tuned!
Let's talk Pride and Prideful strategies...
Pride is a strategy of despair, either manipulating, adding or removing despair. Isegard's Reach is the only character in the game that can bend the rules and give despair to multiple players at the same time, if he's allowed to reach them.
Don't forget to check out the updated Living Rulebook for more details on all the strategies and rules for playing SINS.
Tomorrow, we have one big, two medium and three small additions to the game. Stay tuned!
We're at the end of the entourage. Pride is here, and tomorrow we'll get the party started.
Once again, thank you all and have a wonderful day!
Sincerely Jacob.
Daily Reveal: Pride: "Talkyn's Tribe"
– Mon, Mar 15, 2021 at 06:10:36 AM
Hello backers,
I'm Jacob. First, let us thank you all for sharing our updates. We've gained a lot of traction these last few days. So thank you all. But we are very close to revealing the next stretch goal, so lets us all do a big push on your favorite social groups, with the most enthusiastic post ever. We need this! Let's reach the next stretch goal together! We know we can do it. We believe in you all.
Next, let's unlock the next free daily character, the first of the two pride characters. Of course, Pride isn't just waltzing into this campaign. Pride doesn't do that. He sends his minions ahead of him before he shows up to the party tomorrow, very late. But that's Pride. That's his nature. Don't fight it; embrace it.
Pride is an interesting strategy. You are manipulating Despair. Pride cards don't have any aggressive effects. Pride mainly guards against Despair (damage), which is like; you either hope that you'll never need it for protection, or you double down on the Pride strategy, allowing you to take the hits without worrying about the outcome!
I love Pride, not just because of the card effects but also the sin in general. I'm danish, and there is something anti-danish about Pride in general. In Denmark, we have something known as the Jante-law, which roughly translates into "don't think you're better than others." It's a weird culture. But then again, we are descendants of Vikings, a heritage of pillaging. Anyway, moving on...
Pride is a card strategy that'll allow you to dig into your despair pile, move your damage around and return it to the sender. Pride is a strong card strategy, like so many others, but it won't win you the game, or will it?!
Let us know if you have a favorite Pride combo. We'd love to hear more from our first edition backers.
Tomorrow is a big day, so get some sleep before the party is in full bloom!
None other than Pride himself will show up tomorrow, and on Tuesday, his Battle Pack will be added. It's all for free, and we might have something else in store... Let's see what happens Tuesday!
